K & M Wine Tasting Room

  • Commercial Construction

K & M Wines approached me in October 2011 about doing the build-out on an empty space they leased on Main St. in the wine destination town of Carlton, OR. Ken and Mauro had some pretty clear ideas about how they wanted the floor plan to look, and they wanted to use all re-claimed wood for the bar, seating, and attached gallery space. We hand selected each piece of wood that went into the space, including a 9' live-edge acacia slab we used for the main bar top, as well as a sister piece of acacia we were able to cut and create 3 coffee tables from, a salvaged fireplace mantle to hang behind the bar, re-commissioned custom doors, and various types of re-claimed rustic dimensional lumber which we sculpted into benches, bars, shelves, and area trimboards. Be sure to check out the rolling wine wall--8' wide x 6' tall, and holds 20 cases, yes 240 bottles of wine! The pairing of beautifully re-invigorated wood with the clean, linear geometry of steel makes this tasting room exude a classy modern-rustic character.
